The Right Material For The Kitchen Faucets

Water flows through a kitchen faucet, which we drink and use for cooking.

The choice of material therefore also influences our health and needs to be carefully selected. The vast majority of kitchen faucets are, of course, made of harmless stainless steel.

When choosing the right kitchen faucets, pay attention to the materials used. Inferior models can release lead and nickel into the drinking water and thus endanger health. There is no risk if the spout and battery are made of stainless steel or completely nickel-plated brass.

Beware of bargains – brand-name faucets and showers made of high-quality components have their price.

Kitchen Faucet: High Pressure or Low Pressure?

The question of whether you need a kitchen faucet for high or low pressure depends on the type of water supply. In the case of a central hot water supply or an instantaneous water heater, you have two connections (one cold and one hot water inlet).

In this case, a kitchen faucet for high pressure is required, which mixes the water directly inside the kitchen faucet. Kitchen faucets for high pressure are standard in the U.S. However, if you have a hot water tank or boiler, you will need a kitchen faucet for low pressure.

Low-pressure

Low-pressure faucets have three connections – one hose goes directly to the cold water connection, the other two hoses are installed at the boiler. When the water is turned on, cold water flows from the pipe into the faucet body where it is separated from a valve and the pressure is reduced.

Only after the valve opens does the cold water flow into the boiler and displaces the water that is heated there, which in turn flows out via the third connection.

Important: With a low-pressure valve, slight dripping is quite normal. Warm water expands. The result: The pressure increases and a small amount of water flows out through the fitting.

Useful Extra Functions For The Kitchen Faucet

Modern kitchen fittings no longer consist of a mere faucet with access. Which extra functions are right for you depends on your personal needs.

For example, if a faucet can be turned 360 degrees, this radius of action is perfect for a cooking island.

The right faucet for every kitchen

Single-Lever Faucet

The desired temperature for the faucet in the kitchen can be set with one handle – saving water and energy. If the kitchen faucet is equipped with a high and long shaft, it can reach every corner. Many models match the color of the sink or worktop.

Pulldown Faucet

Pulldown faucets are so practical and flexible that even professionals working with them.

The high and slim spout of the kitchen faucet with pulldown sprayer offers the greatest freedom when working with high pots, washing salad, or cleaning the sink. Pulldown hose with elastic silicone discs can be cleaned very easily.

Touchless Function

Additional sensors or electronic touchpads can also be operated when no hand is free or fingers are full of cake dough. Between operations, such kitchen fittings can be opened and closed by lightly touching.

Observe when planning as an electrical connection near the sink is required for this type of operation.

Designs and Functions of Kitchen Fittings

Fill watering cans, vases, large pots with water and then lift the heavy vessels out of the sink. That is quite tedious.

Those who can do this conveniently outside the sink thanks to the pull-out hose will not want to do without this pull-out option of the single-lever mixer. Simply place the vase next to the sink and let the water run in. Dirt residues in large pots can be removed more easily thanks to the adjustable hose shower with direct water pressure.

The corners of the sink are easier to clean. Especially if you choose a faucet where the shower jet can be changed. A powerful jet for cleaning, a gentle one for delicate fruit and vegetables. Voilá! Once a hose, always a hose.

The semi-professional faucet with a stainless steel shower hose is particularly pleasant. Not only does it look chic, but thanks to its professional functions it also gives you time for cooking with your children or partner.

However, the faucet with a pull-out hose can often only be turned by 140 degrees. In contrast to fittings with a normal tube spout. You just turn it around yourself, i.e. 360 degrees.

This way, baking trays, large pots, and other bulky objects that need to be rinsed off can be easily maneuvered into the sink without causing a nasty mess. Swing the faucet back again and the water flows.

Off Into The Sink – You Can Also Wash Up in Front of The Window

Smilingly watching the robins wallowing in the birdbath outside the window and fluttering their feathers. How nice that your sink unit allows this view. Just what do you do when you want to open the window? What to do with the annoying faucet? No problem. Just sink it.

Simply sink the retractable faucet into the sink and the window can be opened easily. Or take it off and put it back on the sink after airing. Enjoy the view of the small, cheeky little peepers.

Colored Fittings for Silgranit and Ceramic Sinks

For your BLANCO faucet, we always look within ourselves and combine aesthetics with function. Round combined with square, finely balanced.

You won’t find anything fancy here. Our heart beats for timeless elegance. Because that is what you like best. Boring? No way! Play with color. Combine it with the color of your Silgranit sink or your ceramic sink.

The perfectly matched faucet colors ensure a seamless overall appearance of your sink area.

A Faucet Can Also Offer a Lot in Terms of Design

What would you like? An L, an F, or a U – which form does it take? Classically striking or softly rounded in U-format? Is your kitchen rather small? Your faucet sits discreetly anchored to the edge of the sink and appears reserved. It resembles an “F” with its lever above the pipe spout.

The faucet in an inverted L-shape offers considerably more space underneath it. It is easy to place a large pot underneath without creating a corner. The same applies to the soft, high curved fittings in an inverted U-shape.

Here you could even wash your child’s feet after playing in the sandbox if you wish. Sweeping with a high arch, it stands at the edge of your sink. An eye-catcher to fall in love with. Every day anew. The very large U-shaped fittings bring the chic of a professional kitchen into your home. Glamorous and impressive.

Clean Kitchen Faucets Properly

Clean Kitchen Faucets ProperlyMaterials such as stainless steel and chrome are sensitive to cleaning agents. If the surface is too strongly attacked, it becomes dull or scratched. Coloured or gold-plated kitchen fittings require particularly gentle care.

  • Scouring sponges and microfibre cloths can damage the surface. It is best to clean the faucet and shower with a cotton cloth and citric acid cleaner and then rinse the surface with clear water.
  • Do not use acids, chlorine bleach, and cleaners containing phosphorus. Kitchen faucets made of chrome are particularly sensitive to this. If the chromium layer is too heavily attacked, the brass underneath can come to the surface and corrosion damage can occur.
  • Never spray the cleaner directly onto the kitchen faucet. This is because the spray mist gets into the finest groove and attacks the material there.
  • Clean the kitchen fittings regularly to prevent them from calcifying. The best way to remove calcification is with light acid. But be careful: If the cleaner contains too much acid, the surface of the faucet will be attacked.
